In the occupied territories, children are taken away from their families and taken thousands of kilometers away to be "re-educated" in a pro-Russian spirit. The researchers were able to collect information on at least 6,000 children from Ukraine, aged between four months and 17 years old, who have been held in camps and other institutions since the full-scale invasion of Ukraine on February 24, 2022. A total of 43 such institutions were identified.
The study identified dozens of Russian Federation officials and others involved in the resettlement and deportation of Ukrainian children, confirming support for such actions at all levels of the Russian government.
