Russian military who seized the Chornobyl nuclear power plant and the exclusion zone do not allow to extinguish the fires
An increased level of radiation in the air is already being recorded. This was announced by the Commissioner for Human Rights Lyudmila Denisova.
"In the exclusion zone near the Chornobyl nuclear power plant, more than 10,000 hectares of forests are burning due to hostilities, 31 fires have been recorded which leads to an increased level of radioactive air pollution. Controlling and extinguishing fires is impossible due to the seizure of the exclusion zone by russian troops," the Ukrainian Ombudsman.
