Mariupol, Donetsk region

The head of the UN World Food Program (WFP), David Beasley, said that people were "dying of hunger" in Mariupol besieged by the russian army.

More than 100,000 civilians in Mariupol suffer from lack of food, water and heating, according to the UN. The UN is trying to deliver food to the besieged city but russian forces controlling access to the city have prevented WFP representatives from entering the city, Beasley said.

“This is a catastrophic situation: people are dying of hunger,” he said.
