More than half of the documents from the funds of the State Archive of the Kherson region were stolen by Russian invaders and taken out of Kherson. The region contained key documents of the National Archival Fund of Ukraine from the end of the 18th century to the present day.

Also, as a result of hostilities in Chernihiv, a building burned down, where the documents of the KGB archive were also stored. Before that, over the course of three years, Ukraine declassified about half a million documents located there. Researchers and relatives of the repressed received access to 12,000 files. But a year ago, all documents were destroyed.

The total loss of the state archive of Ukraine is estimated at 2% of the entire array of documents of the national archival fund.
