The Russian army blew up the Kakhovskaya HPP: Kherson was flooded, 80 villages and towns are at risk

Kherson region

On the night of Tuesday, June 6, Russian troops blew up the Kakhovskaya HPP. Cities and towns below the Dnieper River, including part of Kherson — a total of 80 settlements — were in the zone of possible flooding. The authorities of Kherson Oblast announced an urgent evacuation.

Analysts call the main goal of undermining the Russian Federation an attempt to prevent the counteroffensive of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and divert media attention from the helplessness of the Russian authorities against the background of the raids in the Belgorod region. The Russians call the blow-up of the HPP the most expensive man-made man-made disaster of the last decade.
