As a result of the flooding, part of the birch and oak forests will die, including the giant oaks that grow in the Zburyev Forestry, one of the largest. Part of coniferous forests will also die. When flooding lasts up to 10 days, up to 30% of planted forests die, but after 10 to 20 days, the probability of death is up to 70%.

Another consequence of flooding is a significant increase in the level of groundwater in the entire southern region of Ukraine. As a result, both the remnants of natural forests (historical Gilea) and the artificial forests created in the last century on the Dnieper sands may finally disappear.

The instantaneous rise of water after the detonation of the hydroelectric power plant left no chance of survival for the majority of animals that inhabited the forest massifs of the Kherson region.
